joining NASW you agree to abide by the NASW Code of Etbics and the NASW
Procedures for Professional Review. The Code identifies core values on which social work's mission is based, summarizes ethical principles that reflect the profession's core values, establishes a set of specific ethical standards that guide social work practice, and provides the basis on which the public can hold a practitioner accountable. As a new member, you will receive a full copy of the Code of Etbics. The Code is available online in its entirety at wwwsocialworkers.org. It also pledges you to uphold the Code and notifies you that you can be held accountable under the NASW Procedures for Professional Review for any violation of the Code. MORE GREAT REASONS TO BECOME AN NASW STUDENT MEMBER PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT NASW state and national continuing education opportunities give you the information, skills training, continuing education contact hours, and networking opportunities you need for professional and personal development. PROFESSIONAL REVIEW NASW promotes the quality and effectiveness of social work practice. This mission encompasses the maintenance of ethical conduct and fair personnel practices. NASW has the responsibility of reviewing and resolving complaints of ethical violations or unfair practices that could be detrimental to this mission. To meet this responsibility the association has implemented the NASW Procedures for Professional Review. This peer review process offers two options- mediation and adjudication. STANDARDS NASW standards set specific guidelines for practice in a variety of settings. They guide clinical social work praaice, inform consumers, and maintain and improve the quality of services. |
