The Position
Based in New York City, NY the Program Director (PD) will report to the NYC Executive Director and the BoMF Vice President of Programming when appropriate.
The Program Director’s main responsibility is to ensure a sustainable, effective and successful program. This includes managing each residential shelter team in New York and oversee members’ moving their lives forward at various phases throughout the program. With the addition of the Program staff, these responsibilities will shift and management of those roles would be involved. However, the Program Director is ultimately responsible for the effective execution of the program in NYC.

Specific Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Managing each of the shelter/facility teams to make sure core volunteer roles are filled and executed effectively
• Managing the Programming staff
• Intake - Member Services Manager
• Advance stage - Member Services Manager
• Corresponding with and managing facility relationships
• Monitoring and analyzing monthly assessment information
• Retention rates of residential and non-residential members
• Compilation of the chapter’s monthly program budget
• Record keeping in our case management database
• Approval of residential-member Financial Aid submissions
• Overseeing the inventory of program equipment (e.g., shoes, shorts, incentives)
• Execution of monthly social events and races

Establishment of relationships including, but not limited to:

• Races and running companies
• Social service organizations in the community

• Working to expand the program to other facilities, when applicable

• Each month, the Program Director will conduct the following meetings:

• New member orientations when appropriate/if necessary

Qualifications & Experience:
• Bachelor’s degree required with a minimum of 4 years of directly relevant work experience (case management, counseling or social work) .
• A Master’s degree in a field related to Social Work, Counseling or Treatment Therapy experience is preferred .
• Ability to develop a strong understanding of the inner-workings of BoMF, including the finances, programming and responsibilities of each staff member.

POSITION: BILINGUAL CASE MANAGER

• Provide active substance users with short and long-term case management and supportive counseling using low-threshold, nonjudgmental, and culturally relevant methodologies
• Conduct participant intakes and assessments
• Make outside referrals and engage in follow-up activities for each encounter, provide escorts and advocacy when appropriate

The Social Work Policy Institute (SWPI) of the National Association of Social Workers (NASW) Foundation is pleased to announce the launch of the Social Work Child Welfare Congressional Fellowship. The fellowship will provide the opportunity for an experienced social worker with substantial child welfare experience to gain invaluable national public policy experience by spending one year working on the development of federal child welfare policy in the United States Senate. This is a great opportunity to contribute a social work perspective to the development of public policy, to broaden awareness of the value of social work-government collaboration, and to contribute child welfare practice and research knowledge to the policy-making process. It is also a unique professional experience to gain practical knowledge about how policy is made.

Candidates must:
 

  • Have a social work degree
  • Have at least 5 years of professional child welfare experience and expertise
  • Have an understanding of the policy-making process and federal child welfare policies and legislation
  • Be a current member in good standing of the National Association of Social Workers
  • Be able to spend 12 months living in the Washington, DC area and working on Capitol Hill.

 

Only one fellow will be selected and the Fellowship will start as soon as possible after the selection is made based on the successful applicant’s schedule and other logistics. The Fellow’s stipend will range from $65,000 to $85,000, plus up to an additional $10,000 to cover travel and other relevant expenses (e.g., moving, attending professional social work conferences, etc.). Finalists for the Fellowship will be invited to participate in an in-person interview in Washington, DC in early Spring.

Program Director

Westchester Jewish Community Services (WJCS) is a large, not for profit, organization with Headquarters in White Plains, NY. We are currently searching for a full-time, 35 hours per week, Program Director to work in White Plains, NY.
The Program Director will be responsible to enhance and sustain a program designed to support high functioning, special needs young adults (many on the autism "spectrum") to transition to and have ongoing success living independently (with program supports) in Westchester County. This Program is operated collaboratively by WJCS and Jewish Child Care Association (JCCA) who have joint oversight of the program. The selected person should have a Master's degree in Special Education or related area (e.g. MSW or Psychology), experience in working with adolescents/young adults with special needs and their families and management experience; supervision, marketing, budget administration and working with sophisticated lay leaders. The Hunts Point Alliance for Children Family Project creates a supportive framework for families that allows parents to focus on their children’s education through case management aimed at avoiding family crises. The Vida Guidance Center, a licensed outpatient Mental Health Clinic, provides bilingual bicultural services to children, adolescents and adults in the Bronx diagnosed with mental illness, chemical addiction (MICA), and HIV/AIDS. Services include family, individual and group Psychotherapy, psychiatric evaluations, counseling, medication follow-up care, and case management. Clinic patients are primarily Latino and African-American. We seek an Intake Coordinator who will:

• Complete brief telephone assessment to determine appropriateness of referral to the clinic; perform initial screening for risk assessments.
• Respond to COPS referrals in a timely manner, and schedule intake appointments.
• Complete initial referral information and financial information forms and initial insurance verification and authorization.
• Keep appropriate documentation of all records, including cases not accepted for treatment.
• Carry cases until they are assigned to a therapist.
• Assess client needs and make referrals to community resources as needed.
• Arrange intake evaluation and psychiatric evaluation appointments and monitors Waiting List for follow up.
• Track referrals, intake evaluations, and psychiatric evaluations for timely scheduling according to OMH guidelines.
• Support clinical staff by making referrals and follow up as needed.
• Follow up insurance authorization, as needed.

Qualifications:

• MSW, and New York State LMSW required. Experience of working with SPMI, MICA, and HIV/AIDS afflicted adult population. Bilingual in Spanish/English.
• Extensive knowledge of principles and practices of mental health outpatient clinics and Office of Mental Health regulations and directives.
• Ability to provide intake coordination, case management and counseling to clients diagnosed with severe and persistent mental illness and/or histories of substance abuse and trauma.
• Responsible, organized, and efficient.
• Ability to perform in a team approach and carry out multiple assignments simultaneously.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Community minded, patient, creative, flexible, compassionate, and culturally sensitive to persons who are diagnosed with severe and persistent mental illness.

• Collaborate with other Fedcap programs and leaders.
• Manage budgets and write business plans

• Familiar with a variety of the mental health field's concepts, practices, and procedures.
• Must demonstrate expertise with and be able to maintain OMH Article 31 regulatory compliance.
• Experience with managed care billing; pre-cert and continued stay reviews.
• Experience with adult, adolescent, and dual diagnosis populations.
• Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
• Able to perform a variety of complicated tasks in a fast paced environment within a rapidly growing organization.
• Excellent oral, written and presentation skills.
• A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.

Qualifications
• Must be a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with 7 years experience in the field of mental health.
• Must have minimum of 4 years supervisory experience.
• Experience leading and developing individuals and teams.
• Must be familiar with OMH regulations & compliance.
• Fluency in Spanish a strong plus.
• Demonstrated success as a strong and compassionate leader of a growing facility.
