Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) is used for developing and achieving the client’s vision of solutions. Social workers will learn the SFBT model, its influences, and problem solving vs. solution building. The workshop will also cover: the assumptions that drive the model, SF orientation, co-constructive language, its connection to solution building, and the 7 SF intervention tools.
Joel Simon, LCSW, ACSW, BCD. A social worker with over 40 years of experience as a clinician, and supervisor. A solution focused therapist, trainer, consultant, and supervisor for over 20 years. Attended 3 advanced SF trainings with Insoo Kim Berg and Steve de Shazer (the co-developers of the model) at the Brief Family Therapy Center in Milwaukee, WI. A co-founder of the Solution Focus Brief Therapy Association. A frequent presenter on SF subjects. The author of 2 books on solution focus and several articles in professional journals including 2 co-authored with Insoo Kim Berg.
