1:00     Transitioning From Managed Care to Private Pay

With Lynne Spevack LCSW, Therapists’ Therapist, Practice Building Consultant

Many in-network clinicians, frustrated with the low pay, long hours and administrative burdens of managed care, lack the know-how to attract the private pay clientele they desire. Practice building consultant Lynne Spevack will outline steps you can take to lay the groundwork to add more lucrative private pay clients to your caseload. This workshop addresses the concerns of private practitioners who aim to leave managed care behind, those who want to develop a hybrid practice combining some private pay with some managed care, and curious clinicians thinking ahead to private practice.

3:00      Legal Q&A with Jonathan D. Rubin, Esq, Senior Partner, Kaufman Borgeest & Ryan LLP

A lawyer whose expertise includes representing mental health professionals facing malpractice and professional disciplinary hearings, Jonathan Rubin has lectured extensively about risk management and legal issues in mental health, sharing his expertise with various audiences of mental health professionals. Mr. Rubin has authored several published articles, addressing topics such as confidentiality, recordkeeping and boundary violations. Registration Information:

Advanced registration is required; there is no same day registration.

Early registration is encouraged: Previous Private Practice Day events have sold out in the first week of registration. With a maximum attendance of 65, we encourage early registration so that you are not closed out of the event.

This event is open to LCSWs only. We regret that we cannot accommodate non-LCSWs at this event. This event is geared towards the solo private practitioner, and will not address the concerns of group practices. Please feel free to contact PPG chairperson Lynne Spevack with any questions or concerns.

Registration is for the full day only; you cannot register for individual workshops. While we anticipate that many clinicians will want to make the most of the day by attending all of the day’s workshops, each workshop is designed to stand alone.

The meeting location will be provided during registration.

Your willingness to use our online registration system is appreciated.

If you require registration assistance you may contact the chapter at 212-668-0050 during business hours.
