March is Social Work Month!
Agencies and Social Work Departments throughout New York City Encouraged to Celebrate
NASW-NYC Welcomes photos and stories about events to be posted on its website: www.naswnyc.org
For over 30 years, NASW-NYC has been encouraging social work agencies and departments to take the initiative in celebrating Social Work Month in March. Events are held throughout the City, ranging from keynote presentations, breakfasts, lunches, parties, and awards receptions, and there are several borough-wide activities, all organized by social workers.
Over the years, Mayors, borough presidents, agency CEOs and hospital presidents have participated in recognizing the professional social workers who are essential to serving the people of New York. This is in addition to the national recognition of Social Work Month, often proclaimed by the President and the United States Congress.
Members of NASW-NYC are encouraged to utilize Social Work Month materials and ideas and to work with agency and program administrators and, where they exist, your organization's public or community relations departments, to develop activities where you work.
Another avenue to promote the Social Work Month theme is the new NASW merchandise store on CafePress. It celebrates the social work month theme of the year with posters, drinkware, buttons, magnets, apparel, bags and other items.
