CALL FOR PROPOSALS
“Trauma and Addictions Across the Life Cycle: Assessment and Interventions.”
Addictive disorders discriminate against no one and affect all populations and ages. The damage done by addiction can be felt in every population served by social workers, with each group and individual affected differently. Recent research has provided us with a clearer understanding of the role of trauma in the addictive process. As a field, we have evolved to include assessment for trauma and approaches to trauma resolution in the treatment of addictive disorders. This conference continues the dialogue by exploring the role of trauma and trauma resolution in the development of, and recovery from addictive disorders.
Ethical issues, Integrated models of care, Residential or Outpatient treatment with specific groups, Tools and techniques, Counselor diversity and biases
We welcome submissions focusing on practical techniques, paying special attention to the particular role the social worker is playing, as well as the setting. Workshops based on skills that are interactive and experiential are preferred. Workshops are to be 2 hours in length, with at least one presenter having a social work degree.
The NASW NYC Chapter Addictions Committee is proud to sponsor this conference for the 44th consecutive year, providing cutting edge education in addiction prevention and treatment.
Deadline for submission for prospective presenters has passed.
*Note: This is a call for submissions of proposals to present at the conference.
Registration will be beginning in March 2012 on www.naswnyc.org*
