Rekindling Reform Health Policy Assistance Requested From Retirees
Social work retirees interested in social policy with a focus on health reform have been invited to participate in the work of Rekindling Reform, a leading policy think tank and advocacy organization. The invitation has been extended by two of the Chapter’s Social Work Pioneers, Dr. Lou Levitt and Dr. Aaron Beckerman who are among that organization’s founders. Lou is a past president of the Chapter and Aaron has served on the Chapter’s Board. Both are now past 85 years of age and, although they intend to remain active in Rekindling Reform, they believe it is time for a succession of membership in RR's National Programs Committee and Steering Committee. Rekindling Reform’s current focus is on helping to avert cuts in Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid and Food Stamps that may be part of the “grand bargain” to be pursued in the lame duck session of Congress. Aaron will be glad to provide more information and can be reached at (516) 487-1972 and at firstname.lastname@example.org .
