What are the therapeutic techniques and conditions that reliably transform suffering? In this workshop presenters will share videos of actual client sessions to demonstrate the key principals and transforming power of Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy (AEDP).

AEDP is an internationally taught and practiced model grounded in attachment theory, emotion theory and interpersonal neurobiology. This model emphasizes working experientially with clients to help them access and embody their affective experiences in relationship to an affirming, responsive, and engaged therapist.  As a result, a secure attachment is formed in the therapeutic relationship and models of self and others are transformed. The theoretical and clinical literature on AEDP is extensive and its effectiveness is being researched in an empirical study with preliminary findings showing that AEDP is an effective and valid treatment.

In addition to video case presentations the workshop will include opportunities for small group discussion and practices.

With this workshop, participants will be able to:

  • Identify key elements of the AEDP model
  • Demonstrate two AEDP interventions for accessing and processing a client's core affect to completion

  • Identify how to utilize metaprocessing to bring awareness to new, positive experiences of change and transformation
