The committee usually takes place on the 3rd Wednesday of each month from 6:30pm-8:30pm

Members of the committee have decided to join forces to give social workers, through their association NASW-NYC, a voice in the current debate concerning healthcare in the US.  Social workers are in the forefront of clients’ struggles with an inadequate and unfair healthcare “system”, that has been proven to discriminate on the basis of income, disability, age, race/ethnicity and sexual orientation/gender identity and expression.  Social workers are also clients themselves of such a “system.  The US is the only country among the richest market economies that does not guarantee the right to healthcare. As a profession that has a rich history in fighting for justice and equality, social workers are therefore coming together to lend their voices to the goal of achieving healthcare for everyone.

The Committee wants (a) to be a forum for various points of view and experiences,  (b) examine all options, and (c) make appropriate recommendations to the NASW NYC Board of Directors on these issues.

We encourage social workers who agree with the above, to join forces and come to our upcoming meetings.
