Greetings Addictions Committee Members:
Poetry in clinical practice is a ground-breaking practice that helps our clients to not only find their way out of the darkness of their addictions but also how to meet the darkness in a way that gives meaning to their recovery. Writing therapy combined with talk therapy allows the client to address their emotional issues without airing them out to the world. Once this happens, the client in recovery may wonder what other thoughts are hidden inside, prompting significant and therapeutic introspection. Dr. Reiter says "one of her greatest delights is helping people to discover the poetry and genuine self- expression that lives within them."
Please join us
for another exciting presentation
"POETIC MEDICINE: RECLAIMING VOICE AND SOUL
IN THE TREATMENT OF ADDICTION"
Our guest presenter will be
Sherry Reiter, Ph.D., LCSW, Registered Poetry & Drama Therapist
Co-author of Twice Chai: A Jewish Road to Recovery
Also, education/training and employment opportunities will be shared. Come out and take part in the opportunity to network.
