THE OFFICIAL NEWSLETTER OF THE NASW-NYC/NYS CHAPTER -- EST. 1956
Overview First published in 1956, the primary goal of the “New York City Chapter Newsletter” renamed “Currents” in the early 1960s was to keep members informed. As a “channel of communication” to members, the newsletter highlighted activities and issues that were important to and for social workers in the New York City area. To date, Currents still serves this purpose, highlighting cutting edge developments in social work by field of practice, as well as the impact of policies on the profession, field, and by communities served.
