This workshop will cover the origins of the current opioid crisis and recent developments that have worsened the trend in the increases in overdose deaths.  We will cover the changes in the treatment delivery system and the changes in treatment options.  Lastly, we will discuss the issue of opioid overdose prevention: recognizing the risks, signs of an overdose and the actions to take to prevent overdose death. The last 20 minutes a training on the use of naloxone will be demonstrated and kits will be distributed to participants.
