As technology continues to expand how people communicate, Social Workers are constantly faces with the dilemma of how to integrate technology into practice. The Presentation will begin by overviewing the history and content of the NASW Code of Ethics (COE), including its use by other organizations and its importance in the field of social work as a whole. Examples will be presented to review the ethical standards in practice. The presentation will continue by introducing the new language of the NASW COE which primarily addresses the use of technology. It will overview the standards of technology released by NASW as a compliment to the COE, and we will review Case scenarios and discuss the ethics involved. The last section of the presentation will primarily be discussion as questions are reviewed and processed with the group.
