This skill-building training will give therapists the means of getting to the heart of most couples' greatest struggle…their failure to get each other to meet the leftover developmental needs from their childhood.

Instead each partner tries to coerce the other to match the distorted inner image of their early caretakers (called the Imago) through blame, shame, and criticism.

Therapists will learn a way of offering couples another option - to create a Conscious Partnership that restores original connection and joy, healing the wounds of the past.

Using lecture, live demonstrations of the process, practice and videos, therapists will leave with a profound tool to help couples effect change.

With this workshop, participants will learn how to:

  • Identify the concept of “Imago” and the role it plays in partner selection
  • Identify the basic assumptions of Imago theory
  • Practice facilitating and connecting the “Imago Dialogue” to the aspects of an Imago practice in working with all populations and settings
  • Articulate the core tenets of Imago Relationship Theory
  • Explain the impact of childhood experiences on adult love relationships
