Hello to all-
The next meeting of the Disaster Trauma will be held on Friday, March 20, 9 to 11 am, at the NASW-NYC chapter office, 305 Seventh Avenue, 13th floor, at 28th Street. The number 1 train to 28th Street is the closest subway.
We will continue discussion of the impact on communities with whom we work, as well as on us, of the relentless collective trauma and loss of the political landscape- including fast changing immigration policy [psychotherapy notes being used by ORR and ICE to prevent immigrant youth asylum, expansion of the Muslim ban to include new travel bans, …], and our social justice initiatives in response; we’ll consider the reality of the coronavirus within a public health and public education context and our role across communities; and highlight the collegial support necessary during these times for the diversity of our work to move forward, and for our own wellbeing. Further meeting details will follow.
Thank you for please sending an RSVP to mgmiller96@aol.com.
Madelyn Miller, PhD, LCSW, chair, Disaster Trauma Committee
