As a clinician you likely engage with individuals and groups who have survived various traumas and formative adverse life circumstances. Imagine how you can be a part of facilitating a possible transformation - of reconstructing the narrative and supporting clients beyond coping and resilience.

Post-traumatic growth (PTG) represents positive psychological change occurring in some who suffered trauma. You can be the expert companion on a journey with your clients to find new meaning of their traumatic experience as well as purpose in life.

In this workshop, you will gain an understanding of the brain-mind dyad, the role of mindfulness, the latest research pertaining to PTG, and into clinical interventions you can begin incorporating into your work now to promote your clients’ journey towards healing and growth. You will learn how to listen for growth in your client’s language that you might otherwise miss and you will know how to share the possibility of growth at just the right times in the therapeutic journey. You will gain an introductory understanding of PTG and acquire tools and skills that can support you in the mastery of listening for and nurturing posttraumatic growth.

With this workshop, participants will be able to:

• Provide examples of understanding of trauma, its impact on one's physical and psycho-neurological health (negative and positive).
• Provide five examples of clinical markers of PTG, and clinician's attunement to signs of co-existing growth and struggle.
• Apply at least 2 specific strategies and mastery skills in supporting diverse populations in achieving PTG

Dr. Victoria Grinman, LCSW-R is the founder of Permission Slip Parenting ™ a groundbreaking approach to guiding parents in connecting to a more fulfilled parenthood journey that supports their joy, confidence and sustained connection and growth with themselves and their child throughout their lifetime. She is an expert in the experience of Posttraumatic Growth, the parenthood experience, Autism, and relationships.

Dr. Grinman is a licensed clinical social worker and earned her PhD at Adelphi University and MSW at Columbia University. She served as a contributing lecturer at Columbia University, Boston College, and Adelphi University, and speaks nationally to professionals dedicated to the healthcare arena. Victoria is a trauma-informed and trained yoga and mindfulness instructor, a certified aromatherapist and a dedicated long-time clinician volunteer for Experience Camps, a free one-week grief camp experience for children who have lost a significant person in their life. She nurtures Growing Kind Minds LLC, a private therapy and coaching practice and lives with her sassy yorkie, Vanna Goh Goh, named after Vincent van Gogh. She resides in New York City.

NASW-NYC Certificates Policy

As per New York State Continuing Education guidelines, attendees must arrive on time and attend the ENTIRE workshop to receive their Continuing Education Contact Hours. Any attendees who arrive late or leaves early to a workshop will not receive their certificate, is not allowed admittance into the workshop and is also not eligible for a refund in any way. 

Please ensure that your registration and evaluation information is accurate as this may impact your continuing education certificates as your certificates will reflect the information you provided.  NASW-NYC is not responsible for the accuracy of your registration information. To receive your certificate of completion, you must be present for the entire webinar and complete an evaluation.

NASW-NYC Refund Policy

All refund requests must be submitted in writing to accounting.naswnyc@socialworkers.org no later than four business days prior to the workshop date. Refund e-mails must include the subject line "Refund Request" as well as the attendee's name, workshop date and title in the body of the e-mail. If a refund is requested later than four business days prior to the workshop date, NASW-NYC has the right to refuse the request.

- All refunds are subject to a fee of 25% for administrative processing fees

- Refund requests typically take 1-2 weeks processing time

- Refunds ONLY. Credit cannot be issued toward a future program date or substituted for another workshop.

If the workshop is cancelled, you will be informed ahead of time and fully refunded.
