As a response to the tragedy that occurred in Orlando, the Sexual Orientation Gender Identity and Expression (SOGIE) Collective (formerly the LGBT Committee) decided to make available space/group for social workers and social work students who may be suffering or in need of a holding space.

Madelyn Miller, Chair of the Disaster Trauma Committee and a trauma clinician of color (TBD) will be facilitating two groups: a white group and a people of color group. Because this is such a multi-layered situation it was thought that this will effectively provide a safer space for attendees to process their thoughts and feelings.
