Interpersonal psychotherapy (IPT) is a time-limited; evidence based psychodynamic psychotherapy that focuses on interpersonal stresses as the source of psychological problems. This workshop will provide a practical model of intervening directly and effectively with clients through an interpersonal lens which can provide symptom relief and stabilization.

The IPT approach has developed an increasing body of evidence to support its application across many diagnostic categories and treatment populations.

It is commonly distinguished from other forms of therapy in its emphasis on interpersonal processes rather than intrapsychic processes. IPT aims to change the person's interpersonal behavior by fostering adaptation to current interpersonal roles and situations.

This workshop will review Interpersonal Psychotherapy (IPT) theory perspectives to provide a basic framework for understanding human relational transactions. In addition to the theoretical perspective, this course will offer practical skills for attendees to utilize directly in clinical settings.
