This experiential and didactic workshop will demonstrate the use of techniques drawn from Action Methods (Sociometry, Psychodrama and Group Psychotherapy).
A basic tenet of psychodrama is learning through action and interaction. J. L. Moreno, the creator of psychodrama as well as a pioneer of systemic thought, group psychotherapy, sociometry and role theory, began to develop his ideas in the early decades of the twentieth century. This workshop will demonstrate some of the techniques aimed at deepening emotional expression, insight and behavioral change. Participants will also learn about interactive skills of group building and possibilities of applying these techniques in their own work as practitioners and/or supervisors. Previous experience in Action Methods is not necessary.
Jacob Gershoni, LCSW, CGP, TEP; Co-Director of the Psychodrama Institute of New York, and a member of the executive Council of the American Society of Group Psychotherapy and Psychodrama. Jacob Gershoni is a social worker at Columbia Presbyterian and a Certified Group Psychotherapist in private practice.
