The NASW-NYC CARES Member Ambassador (MA) Program
About the Member Ambassador Program
This program identifies students from accredited schools of social work within New York City who will serve as liaisons between their respective programs and the NASW-NYC Chapter. As links between the Chapter and their respective schools, the primary roles of Member Ambassadors are to share Chapter and community resources, events, legislative and advocacy matters, educational and continuing education offerings and other pertinent information related to the social work profession with their student body, faculty, and staff of their respective institutions at events hosted at their schools or communities.
In addition, Member Ambassadors are required to coordinate and lead various student support events throughout the semester, aiming to continue engagement with social work students and schools in NYC. The Member Ambassadors will additionally be leading the NASW-NYC Students of Social Work Committee as co-chairs during their tenure, where their role, in addition to coordinating these student support events, is to recruit student membership, lead the student support events, and engage with other NYC social work students to collaborate with NASW-NYC, ensuring that this important committee remains active at the chapter. in addition, Member Ambassadors support the outreach and release of the annual NYC Students of Social Work Internship Survey, implemented in the 2021-2022 round of the program.
Serving as a Member Ambassador has several benefits including being able to connect and network with social workers of all career levels and in different fields of practices. Member Ambassadors may often receive the benefit of free opportunities that aim to support their professional goals, student careers, and personal well-being, among other perks and benefits. A role that can be included in a CV/resume, the Member Ambassador role also provides opportunity to hone, utilize, and enhance various skills that can serve their careers as social workers.
