Students of Social Work Committee

MISSION

Being launched in the fall semester of 2021, the NASW-NYC Students of Social Work Committee’s mission is to create and develop the necessary support for New York City social work students to grow in their academic experiences and assist in preparing them for their future careers as NYC social workers. The NASW-NYC Students of Social Work Committee aims to create accountable spaces that foster a strong community of NYC social work students with an adherence to the NASW Code of Ethics and the mission and priorities of the NASW-NYC Chapter.

Led by current Member Ambassadors of the NASW-NYC Chapter, the committee works hand in hand with the Manager of Community Engagement and Volunteer Initiatives.

For information on how to get involved with the Students of Social Work Committee, please email cares.naswnyc@socialworkers.org.

GOALS

  1. Collaborate with the various NASW-NYC committees and potential partners to develop and organize programming that can foster education, engagement, and support for NYC students of social work.

  2. Create accountable environments that are inclusive of all NYC social work students and promote the mission of the committee and the NASW-NYC Chapter.

  3. Provide resources for NYC students of social work that can help them advocate for themselves.

  4. Create a professional support network for students entering their social work careers, bridging them to the New Professionals R&R subcommittee after graduation.
